Sofia is a 13-year-old from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. While she is an aspiring actor,  her passion is dance. At the age of 8 Sofia began competitive dance and hasn’t looked back.   Sofia started as an acrobatic and contortion specialist and was fortunate to have been selected to attend a summer intensive program at Canada’s National Circus School, École Nationale de Cirque, in Montreal, Canada when she was 10 years old. Sofia continues to train in acrobatics and has reached the penultimate level, pre-professional 2, in the Acrobatic Arts syllabus.  

Sofia trains under the direction of Dawn Halprin and Jessica Lowe at Illusions Dance Arts in Cole Harbour. In addition to acro Sofia trains in ballet, contemporary, modern, lyrical, jazz and musical theatre. While Sofia excels in her technical training, her artistry and performance quality are aspects of her dancing that are continually recognized and applauded. Sofia has a unique ability to bring her audience into her performances and truly shines on stage. 

She has been given a platform to explore her own artistry through self- choreography and is excited to further develop her movements through this creative process. There is no doubt that Sofia is both an athlete and an artist.  Sofia has won several overall awards, special awards, and title competition awards over the last 4 years. She has been recognized regionally, nationally and internationally as one of the top dancers in her age category and has won numerous scholarships and cash prizes. Sofia is looking forward to her continued growth as a dancer and performer.  Outside of dance, Sofia enjoys spending time with her friends and family and loves fashion.
